Here at Fringe Hair Art salon in Kennebunkport, Maine, we are a family. We all have an interest in creating a relaxing and luxurious environment for each of our clients. Over the next few weeks I will be writing about our stylists, our salon, our future, and will be happy to answer any questions you might have along the way.
Interspersed throughout the written blogs, we will strive to recreate what goes on at the salon through video blogs. If there is a certain aspect you are interested in seeing or service that is performed here, send us a message and we will make sure we capture it for you.
At Fringe Hair Art we believe a haircut should be more than just sitting in a chair and getting the actual cut. You will be able to see how we rise above the rest in the coming videos.
For now, read below to learn a little more about our hair stylists at Fringe Hair Art.
Mary Altieri:
Mary enjoys the creative aspect of hair styling and being able to see a positive result when she is done. She has grown up in Southern Maine and has hair styling in her blood. Her mother and grandfather were both hairdressers. She was born to be a great hairstylist. Mary attended cosmetology school in Portland, where she graduated in August 2010. She understands the value of learning from a expert before jumping into doing hair independently so she is currently in training with our Director . She envisions her future to be a stylist with the team of successful and talented hair stylists at Fringe Hair Art.
Calina Hood:
Calina is our new talent at Fringe and we are so lucky to be able to benefit from her amazing talents as a hair designer. She is from MA originally but has lived in the Kennebunkport area for 6 years. She comes from a family with a history in hairstyling and was basically born with a pair of shears in her hand. She has always known exactly what she wanted to do and went straight into cosmetology school in Portland after graduating from high school. People are constantly amazed that a designer with her experience can perform at the level of a stylist who has been working in the industry for years.
Erin McCabe:
Originally from MA, she lives in the Kennebunkport area with her 2 small children and their father. Erin is one of the most passionate hair designers I have met. She cannot emphasize how much she LOVES what she does at Fringe Hair Art. She once told me she "could not see herself ever doing anything else." Erin not only gives and amazing haircut and color, but she also worked as an educator for WELLA Color Corporation. She taught other designers color techniques and basics. She has been doing hair for 14 years and enjoys making people look as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.
Sheryl Miller:
Sheryl has been in the hair business for over 20 years. She gained experience and knowledge traveling internationally with Paul Mitchell as his assistant before moving onto training and managing his education teams. She also worked at top salons in New York City and Las Vegas. She is the heartbeat behind Fringe Hair Art. She has won multiple beauty awards and national recognition. When she returned Kennebunkport to open Fringe Hair Art, the Boston Globe covered her return in the article "Back to Her Roots." I have the pleasure of brainstorming with Sheryl of new ideas of how to give clients of Fringe Hair Art a more unique experience. Her main concern is always making sure her clients feel well-taken care of and pampered when they leave. Her customer service skills are high above anything I have seen and truly cares about each and every person who comes through the hair salon.
Laurel Wiley:
She has an extensive and talented history. She has been in hollywood for 2 decades working on famous faces such as Heart`s Ann and Nancy Wilson, Christopher Walken, Elizabeth Hurley, and many more. She has been the evening director at Studio Makeup academy on the famous Sunset Gower Studios lot for 22 years and still teaches there. Laurel has trained over 10,000 working hollywood makeup artists. She has also worked on numerous films and television shows, including American Idol Gives Back and Brothers and Sisters. Recently she has done several ads for Brookstone. Her work includes expert eyebrow design, airbrush makeup artistry for brides, and beauty makeup online. Laurel has learned brow design from the best. Anastasia of Beverly Hills and Valerie of Beverly Hills. She is available for brow design, facial waxing, makeup lessons and facial peels at Fringe Hair Art. Laurel also has a portfolio available to view online at www.laurelmakeup.com.
Whew! So as you can see our salon is filled with an amazing array of talented stylists and artists. We truly are like a family with each other. We love meeting new clients and getting to know new and old members of the community as well as visitors to the Kennebunks. Come on in and meet the family!
